Tunnels Beaches lies within a designated area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and
is part of a Voluntary Marine Conservation area. We consistently surpass the highest possible standards for EU sea water testing and are currently the proud holders of
the prestigious 'Blue Flag' beach award, and 'Quality Coast Award'.
Our beaches and coves are cleaned daily during the peak summer season (july/Aug). This includes the removal of any litter or marine debris. We believe it is essential
to maintain the natural beauty and environment of our North Devon coastline.
We do not allow dogs onto our beaches at any time, however they are permitted
on the rest of the site providing they are kept on a lead at all times.
Tunnels Beaches is the safest beach in North Devon according to official figures.
Our tidal pool, combined with summer lifeguard cover provide safety for you and
your whole family.
We have an abundance of rock pools teeming with sealife, and we were recently
voted the 3rd best beach for rockpooling in the UK by BBC Wildlife Magazine. We
work closely with the Devon Wildlife Trust who organise guided rock pool rambles,
visit their website for confirmed dates. The beach shop sells everything you'll need
to go exploring in the pools.
Our tidal sea water swimming pool is ideal for dingies and inflatables - the kids will love it! The pool is visible for 3 hrs before and after every low tide so you may want
to plan your visit accordingly (tide times available to view below...)
